Let’s talk about audio books.

Hello Guys and Dolls,

It’s been a while since I last wrote to you, in the space of a month, I feel as if I’ve lived a million lifetimes. We have been through a death, and multiple trips to the hospital for multiple people that we love and care about. I have also been ill again, but in these dark times, I always find it’s most important to focus on my loved ones and coming home to them at the end of the day.

On a lighter note – I have had very little time to read lately, what with work and writing and everything else going on. I just don’t know how to find the time to pick up a book, which is how I got back into audio books.

I haven’t listened to an audio book since I was about 10 years old. I was a vivacious reader as a child, and even when I desperately needed to go to sleep, I would stay up long past bedtime with a little lamp on at my bedside and read through book after book. I continued like this until my parents introduced audio books into my life, on CD and Cassette, so that I could listen to books well into my sleep and not feel like I was missing out on something.

As I grew older I found it harder to have any background noise whilst I was trying to sleep, so the audio books stopped and I began insomnia reading into my adulthood.

I usually find audio books really difficult to listen to as it’s not only about finding the right book, but the right voice too, and for so long I have struggled with that concept. But recently, whilst in the car or working, I have started to once again delve into the realms of audio books and I have loved the experience. I have gotten through more books in a week than I would usually get through in a month and I have been able to fully take in every word, every syllable and fall back into having my head in one story or another at all times.

It has been a transformative experience and has allowed me to actually focus on reading (or listening) for the first time in a long time when it had fallen into the background for me while writing took precedence.

It’s been pretty nice.

That’s all from me this month ladies and gents, feel free to check out the rest of my site and the links to Kismet AND my FREE short story over on my books page.

Thanks for reading,

Alie xo

Hello Guys and Dolls

Thank you for stumbling onto my website, and welcome. This is my first blog post on my brand-new site and for this particular post, I’d like to chat a little bit about my book, Kismet and my short story – Sweet Little Lies.

Firstly, let me say thank you so much from the very bottom of my heart to every single person who has purchased, read and reviewed Kismet. This journey has been a whirlwind so far and sincerely hope you’ll stick with me in the coming months while I inevitably battle with the intense writers’ block that will surely encumber the writing process of my next book.

The reception for Kismet has been so warm and positive and I can’t be any more grateful for those of you who have given me your feedback. I am overwhelmed with emotion at how my writing has affected some of you and how much support I have received in this journey so far.

Following on from the success of Kismet in it’s first few months, I’d like to alert you to my FREE short story; Sweet Little Lies.

Sweet Little Lies is a story about a secret fling that blossoms into something special. Winter break kicks off with a bang when the most popular girl in town falls head over heels for the invisible boy… but the invisible boy has a secret of his own that threatens to break apart their newfound romance in a matter of moments.

I’m super excited for you all to have a chance to read one of my shorter stories. Sweet Little Lies was originally a winning competition piece which I think will serve as a nice taster for anyone who wants to see what my writing is all about.

January has been a busy month for me; I’ve suffered with no end of medical problems and have been super ill, but somehow, I’ve managed to keep trekking on as usual! We’ve had so much going on in the way of meetings and appointments with regards to my health this month that I feel so sorry for my partner having to take all the notes while I try to process what’s going on.

I’m currently working on a novel I started two years ago. I decided to completely re-write it, so I’m hoping it will come out as I’m envisioning.

Please follow my social media accounts to keep up to date with all the goings on, and I’ll catch up with you all soon.

xoxo, Alie.
